Ginger Beer Drink

8 oz (1 cup) fresh Ginger root
1 liter (4 cups) bottled or Distilled water
2 oz (1/4 cup) Lemon
- (optional) - combine with Lime juice (up to 4 oz)
1/2 cup Brown sugar
- OR - 1/4 cup (to taste) white sugar
Preparation Instructions
Peel and cut the ginger into small pieces, then place it into a food processor or blender with ½ cup of water. Blend for about one minute until the mixture is well processed. Transfer the mixture into a large glass container and add the remaining liter of water. Cover loosely and store in a cool place for 5 to 15 hours to allow it to infuse.
After the mixture has rested, strain the ginger beer into a large pitcher or bowl. Add fresh lemon and lime juice, then sweeten to taste. Pour the mixture back into the large glass container, cover again, and refrigerate.
To Serve
Pour over ice and garnish with slices of lemon, lime, or grapefruit for a refreshing finish. 🍋🥤🌿
